    Cathedral of Siena (Duomo Siena)

Deemed one of the most magnificent cathedrals in Italy, the Il Duomo was built over a period of two and a half centuries (1136-1382). It is constructed of black and white marble, highlighted with an ornate facade of carved statues and columns. Inside the inlaid marble floors are decorated with both biblical and mythological scenes, crafted by over 40 renowned artists (these are often covered for conservation reasons). Several frescos of brilliant quality can be seen throughout the cathedral, as well as a stunning pulpit by Nicola Pisano.
