Gaiole in Chianti Castles & Stately Homes

This Renaissance period fortification is set on a hilltop, and was once a powerful player in Florence's defense system. It is octagonal in shape, with colossal walls standing 15 meters high. The castle is privately owned by the Ricasoli, who operate a winery below the castle. Visitors can satisfy appetites at the restaurant on the grounds, the Osteria del Castello, as well as have a grand view of the Chanti area. Brolio Castle is set between the towns of Castelnuovo Berardenga and Gaiole.
