The Sacred Girdle (Sacra Cintola) This pulpit was actually built on the outside of Prato's 12th century cathedral, the reason being to easily display its most holy relic, the Sacred Girdle, or Sacra Cintola, on religious holidays. Believed to have belonged to the Virgin Mary, the girdle was brought to Prato by a soldier after the Second Crusades, but its genuineness is challenged by a second girdle being preserved in the Syrian city of Hom. Address: Piazza del Duomo Prato PO Italy
